মোবাইল দিয়ে ইন্টারনেট কতটুকু নির্ভরযোগ্য….
আমরা এখন অস্থির হয়ে গিয়েছি মোবাইল ইন্টারনেটের বিজ্ঞাপন দেখতে দেখতে অস্থির হয়ে গিয়েছি। বাংলাদেশের প্রতিটি মোবাইল কোম্পানীই এখন মোবাইলে ভয়েস সেবার পাশাপাশি ইন্টারনেট সেবা দিচ্ছে। সিটিসেল, গ্রামীণ, একটেল, বাংলালিঙ্ক, টেলিটক এবং ওয়ারিদ টেলিকম হচ্ছে আমাদের মোট মোবাইল কোম্পানী। এদের মধ্যে প্রথম ইন্টারনেট সেবা নিয়ে আসে গ্রামীণফোন। বিভিন্ন ধরণের ঘাপলা করে সার্ভিস লঞ্চ করছে। শুরুতে এরা অনেক ভাষণ দিয়েছে, EDGE দিয়ে এটা হয়ে ওটা হয়, এটা GPRS থেকে এই এই সেবা বেশী দেবে ইত্যাদী। এক কনফারেন্সে আমি ওদেরকে বলতেও শুনেছিলাম যে EDGE নাকি CDMA থেকে দ্রুতগতির ইন্টারনেট সেবা দেয়, কি বলে না বলে ঠিক নাই। এর পরে আসলো একটেল, যার সেবা আজ দুই বছর পরেও পর্যন্ত বাংলাদেশের সব এলাকায় পৌছাতে পারেনি। তারপর বাংলালিঙ্ক ও টেলিটক, এদের কথা বলতে গেলে বলতে হয়, সার্ভিস থাকা আর না থাকা একই কথা। বাকী থাকলো সিটিসেল। অনেক কাঠ খঁড় পুড়ে প্রায় একবছর আগে তারা অনটেস্ট ইন্টারনেট সেবা প্রদান করা শুরু করে। কিন্তু সেবার মূল্য এত বেশী যে সাধারণ মানুষ এর ধরা ছোঁয়ার বাহিরে থেকে যায়। কিছুদিন আগে প্রতিযোগিতার সন্মুখীন হয়ে তারা আবার মূল্য নির্ধারণ করে, কিন্তু সেটাও সাধারণভাবে ব্যবহারের যোগ্য না। ওয়ারিদ টেলিকম সার্ভিস লঞ্চ করার সাথে সাথেই ওয়েব সাইটে EDGE/GPRS-এর কথা লিখে রাখলেও বাস্তবে সেবার মান টেলিটক এবং বাংলালিঙ্কের মতই জঘন্য।
সেবার মানের দিক দিয়ে আপাতত সিটেসেল এবং গ্রামীনফোনের সেবাই ব্যবহারযোগ্য, কিন্তু এখন প্রশ্ন হচ্ছে এদের সেবা কতটুকু ব্যবহারযোগ্য! আমি নিজে এই দুই কোম্পানীর সেবা ব্যবহার করেছি, সেবার মান খারাপ না, কিন্তু সত্যি কথা বলতে এই সেবার উপরে ভরসা করা যায়না। মাঝে মাঝেই গ্রামীণফোনের ইন্টারনেটের গতি ঠিক থাকেনা। ইন্টারনেটে ঘাঁটাঘাটি করে GSM প্রযুক্তি সম্পর্কে শিখলাম। এই প্রযুক্তিটা TDMA নামে পরিচিত, যার অর্থ হচ্ছে Time Division Multiple Access. এটা কাজ করে সময়ের উপরে। সোজা সাপ্টা অর্থ হচ্ছে একটা টাওয়ারে নীচে যতগুলি মোবাইল থাকবে টাওয়ারটা তাদেরকে অল্প অল্প সময়ের জন্য ফ্রিকোয়েন্সি প্রদান করবে আবার অল্প সময়ের জন্য ফ্রিকোয়েন্সি বন্ধ করে রাখে। এভাবে ভাগাভাগী করে মোবাইলগুলি কিছু সময়ের জন্য নেটওয়ার্ক পায় আর কিছু সময় বিচ্ছিন্ন হয়ে থাকে। এটা এত দ্রুত হয় যে গ্রাহকরা টের পায়না। তবে প্রযুক্তিটা জনপ্রিয় হলেও টেকনিকালি সুবিধার না।
CDMA আবার সব গ্রাহককে একসাথে একই সময়ে ফ্রিকোয়েন্সি প্রদান করে এবং বিশেষ একটি কোডের মাধ্যমে তাদের পৃথক করে। যার জন্য সবাই সমান নেটওয়ার্ক পায় এবং যেহেতু এরা কোড ব্যবহার করে, তাই প্রযুক্তির নাম Code Devision Multiple Access.
এখন প্রযুক্তিগতভাবেই গ্রামীণফোন দুর্বল, একটা BTS Cell এর আওতায় (উল্লেখ্য একটা টাওয়ারে সাধারণত তিনমূখী তিনটা BTS Cell থাকে) একসাথে তিনটার বেশী মোবাইল ইন্টারনেট ব্যবহার করতে গেলেই BTS Cell এর আর ক্ষমতা থাকেনা সবাইকে সমান মানের সেবা প্রদান করা আর তাই যে টাওয়ারের আওতায় গ্রাহক যত বেশী হবে, সেই এলাকার ইন্টারনেটের অবস্থা তত খারাপ হবে। গ্রামীণফোন যে হারে বিজ্ঞাপন প্রচার করছে, তাতে গ্রাহক যদি বেড়ে যায়, গ্রামীনফোনের সেবার মান অত্যন্ত খারাপ হয়ে যাবে এবং সেটা ঠিক করার জন্য তারা কিছুই করবেনা, কারণ এই সেবায় আয়ের চাইতে ব্যায় বেশী। এটা ভবিষ্যতের কথা না, ওদের এখনি এই অবস্থা চলছে। ঢাকার বেশীরভাগ এলাকায় ব্রডব্যান্ডের সেবা অসম্ভব খারাপ হওয়ায় মানুষ গ্রামীণফোনের উপরে নির্ভর হয়ে পড়েছেন ইন্টারনেট সেবার জন্য। এভাবে বিভিন্ন এলাকায় এত গ্রাহক বেশী হয়ে গিয়েছে সেবার মান অত্যন্ত খারাপ হয়ে পড়েছে। বিশেষ করে উত্তরা, মালিবাগ, মিরপুর, হাজারীবাগ, উত্তরখান, দক্ষিনখান ইত্যাদী এলাকায় সেবার মান জঘন্য। মাঝে মাঝে ঠিক হয়, সম্ভবত যে সময় গ্রাহকরা অনত্র থাকে এবং BTS Cell-এ চাপ কম থাকে, তখন মোটামুটি ভালো হয়, কিন্তু বেশীরভাগ সময়গুলিতেই সেবার মান থাকে জঘন্য।
আকাশছোঁয়া ট্যারিফের জন্য সিটিসেলের ইন্টারনেট ব্যবহার করা না গেলেও ওদের সেবার মান এখনো বোশ ভালো, কিন্তু ঝামেলা হলো এদের নিজেদের নেটওয়ার্ক ব্যাকবোন নেই। Link3 নামের এক ইন্টারনেট সেবা প্রদানকারী প্রতিষ্ঠানের কাছ থেকে লাইন নিয়ে সিটিসেল আপাতত সেবা প্রদান করছে। ডিসের লাইনের ক্ষেত্রে যখন কেউ লাইন নিয়ে আবার লাইন প্রদান করে, তখন আমরা বলি ওরা ফিডের ব্যবসা করে। সিটিসেলও সেরকম ফিডের ব্যবসা করছে। 
সত্যি কথা বলতে ব্রডব্যান্ড ইন্টারনেটের কোনো বিকল্প নাই। আমাদের দেশে সবরকম সেবা প্রদানের ক্ষেত্রে সততা কম থাকায় গ্রহকরা ভালো সেবা থেকে বিচ্ছিন্ন হয়। তবে আমার মনে হয় আপাতত আইএসপিগুলির মোবাইল কোম্পানীদেরকে ভয় না পেলেও চলবে….
শিপলু: একটা ফোনের স্বাভাবিক কার্যক্রম হচ্ছে আপনি সেটা চার্জ করবেন এবং ব্যবহার করে ব্যাটারী খালি করবেন। আমরা ইন্টারনেট ব্যবহারের ক্ষেত্রে কিন্তু এটার ব্যাঘাত ঘটাচ্ছি, তাই এটা ক্ষতিকারক বৈকি।
মোবাইল ইন্টারনেটটার আবিস্কার হয়েছে বিশেষ প্রয়োজনে ব্যবহারের জন্য, সবসময় ব্যবহারের জন্য না। আপনি যদি বিদেশের বাজার ঘাঁটেন, তাহলে দেখবেন কোনো ভালো বড় কোম্পানী কম্পিউটারে ব্যবহার করার জন্য USB মোডেম বানায়নি, (আমাদের দেশে যেই USB EDGE/GPRS মোডেমগুলি পাওয়া যায়, সেগুলি চায়না থেকে বিশেষ ওর্ডার দিয়ে বানিয়ে আনা হয়, যার মান অত্যন্ত জঘন্য)। যা বানিয়েছে সব ল্যাপটপে ব্যবহারের জন্য। ল্যাপটপে বিশেষ প্রয়োজনে আপনি এটা ব্যবহার করবেন।
তাহলে ওদের যদি মনে হতো যে এই জিনিস ২৪ ঘন্টা ব্যবহার করার জন্য তৈরী করি, ওরা তৈরী করতো না? সুতরাং বুঝতেই পারছেন আপনি খাল কেটে কুমির আনছেন।
অনেকেই এই কথা পড়ে বলবেন যে আমরা অসীম সময়ের জন্য লাগিয়ে রেখেছি ইন্টারনেটে, কই আমাদেরতো কোনো সমস্যা হচ্ছে না। ভাই, সমস্যা না হোক সেই দোয়াই করি, একবার সেট ফুটে গেলে আমও যাবে ছালাও যাবে।

আজিমপুর এ যখন প্রথম গ্রামীন এর কানেকশন নিয়েছিলাম,স্পিড ছিলো ১২-১৫ কেবিপিএস,এখন নেমে হয়েছে ১-৩ কেবিপিএস।
স্পিড আর কতো নামবে?
টেলিটকের স্পীড তো ভাই বোগাস!! 3 kBps – 3.5 kBps. তারপরেও সেটাই ব্যবহার করতে হচ্ছে কারণ বাকি সব সেল অপারেটরের হয় পোস্টপেইড সিম লাগবে নতুবা প্রি-পেইডে আনলিমিটেড অপশন নাই। আর সিটিসেল এক্সপেনসিভ বেশ!
ইউরোপ আমারিকার নেট স্পীডের কথা শুনি আর দীর্ঘশ্বাস ফেলি……

BTTB is LAME organization….. and no 1 Corrupted organization.. Dont belive / rely on them. Wait a bit, WiMAX will be the cheaper fastest solution. Recently Agni Online is providing WiMAX for the corporate clients. Hopefully they will go fo the mass. Till then,,,,,, Cheers…
We as a user always expect competition among the internet service provider to
get better service. In old days all the ISPs monopolize the internet market. But
the mobile operators drastically changed the situation. I live at Sylhet. Sometimes informally this city is called ‘Cyber City’ for numerous Cyber cafes. But recently their profit margin is falling sharply. Recently I read the rates of BTTB for Internet.

If you read it carefully you’ll notice that the rate is too much high. Not sky-touching but space-touching !!!
It clearly indicates that Internet is not for mass people. Its for
business man, industries and educational institute. I was amazed when
I saw %50 discount for educational institutes in some category. After
all these, we still hear some words like “Internet in rural
area”,”Internet for all” etc from those who like to dream about our
country.
I can guess why their rate is so high.
May be the reason is the Govt had to buy the submarine cable connection
with huge amount of money. But They were offered free connection few
years ago.
whatever, These Govt peoples are corrupted. They will demand more and
more money even if the bandwidth is free.
And we people will always think, “Jhamelay jeye ki lav, Shomoy nosto,
maniei choli”

I am sharing some of my practical findings bellow
Advantages of ISP:
1.It has a strong base in case of corporate customers, who are very less likely to switch to mobile Internet
2.Ability to provide as much speed as the customer requires
3.The connection is relatively a lot stable and is not shared
4.More experienced in this field
5.Swift and effective on the spot support
6.When security is an issue the ISP has a major advantage
7.Supports VPN connectivity
8.Ability to give real IP at once
9.Strong data network ability
10.Ping response latency is relatively low
11.Multiple upper provider for external gateway support
12.Link redundancy availability
13.Tracing the source in case of any fraudulent occurrences from client IP
Disadvantages of ISP:
1.Does not provide mobility
2.Difficult and time consuming to setup and maintain
3.Insufficient budget
4.Advertisement initiatives are very poor
5.Small number of subscribers
6.Small coverage area
Advantages in Mobile Internet:
1.It’s main advantage is its mobility. Growing number of laptop users are preferring the Internet connection that will follow them around where ever they go
2.Increase in the availability of sets that has built in EDGE modem at a low price
3.In our country most people do not require high speed Internet when they are on the go; as long as they provide a connection that is relatively faster than dial-up most people (specially business men) will still prefer the mobile Internet
4.CDMA/ WCDMA provider can be a threat to the home user
5.Roaming/ coverage facility to entire Bangladesh
Disadvantages in Mobile Internet:
1.Lack of technical support when users are facing any problem
2.Low and shared bandwidth capable of maximum 160kbps
3.Quality of the service deteriorates in high density, high usage areas
4.As the number of subscribers increase the QOS is set to deteriorate even farther
5.Not adequate for corporate customers
6.Not adequate for people who download more frequently
7.Most mobile operators set 3GB usage limit per month which is comparatively more expensive and insufficient for many people
8.Very difficult to support VPN and other complicated functions of the Internet
9.Do not provide real IP address
10.Inconsistent speed
11.Frequent disconnection problem
12.For some of the service providers reconnection can be comber sum process
13.No support for installation
14.The mobile is occupied in this process, if edge modem is used instead of phone, a good amount of investment is needed in home user perspective
Advantages of WiMAX:
1.High speed up to 75 Mbps bandwidth
2.Use of existing fiber optic network to setup WiMAX transmitter
3.Ability to cope up with increased number of customers
4.Access to places where permission is needed and is a big issue
5.Comparatively easier to establish and maintain
6.Fulfills the need of the corporate customers as well
7.Proper technical support when facing with problem.
8.No antenna is needed
9.Connection can be established a lot faster than wired connection
WiMax Possible Usage:
There are many different areas where WiMax can be deployed to provide High Speed Wireless Access
1.Residential High Speed Internet AccessWiMax will be a strong competitor for currently used xDSL or Cable technology. In most countries, it will be viewed as a replacement for wired connections. In developing country especially those with poor land-line infrastructure, WiMax provides a cheap, but reliable and scalable connection
2.Large Enterprises WiMax is competing directly with current Wi-Fi technology in this market. WiMax is able to support more users at higher speed in a larger area
3.Broadband Internet Access in Remote Area using WiMax’s Line Of Sight connection, service providers can easily reach remote area that’s economically infeasible to reach by xDSL. Also, service providers can choose to integrate cell phone base station with WiMax base station to reduce the cost further
4.WiMax is providing wireless high speed Internet connection, user could use hand-held device to make phone call over IP. Many experts anticipate that WiMax enabled device will eventually replace cell phone completely
